Pansy – Frizzle Sizzle Lemonberry
$1.75 – $2.99
blotched lemon with purple picotee edges
Ruffled edge pansies in a beautiful blotched lemon with gorgeous purple picotee edges. Pansies are an excellent addition to your fall/winter garden as they are frost tolerant. In the deep south, pansies will stop flowering and possibly die off during the summer months. This particular variety has stronger ruffling in cool conditions.
Plants reach 6-8″ tall and 8-10″ wide.
You can start pansies indoors 6-8 weeks before your last average frost, or you can start outdoors in cell packs in fall or early spring.
Press into soil and lightly cover. Keep out of direct sunlight until seeds germinate as darkness aids germination. Kept at 65-70° F, germination is in 14-21 days. Transplant into the garden 6-8″ apart. While pansies are frost-tolerant, it is best to plant them out in early spring or fall.
Pansy seeds are best used within a 2 year period as they start to lose their viability after that.
Pansies prefer full sun to partial shade and need cooler temperatures to thrive. They prefer moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil. They need regular water, especially in warmer weather. Fertilize every 2 weeks with a general, balanced, all-purpose fertilizer. Be wary of using a nitrogen-heavy fertilizer where the first nutrient number is higher than the other two.
Remove faded/dead flowers to encourage plants to produce more blooms and to prolong the blooming season.
