Product Description
Callistephus chinensis dwarf
Chrysanthemum-type flowers in shades of blue, lavender, pink, rose, carmine, and white. Bushy plants are wilt-resistant and grow to 10-12″ tall.
Germination
Start seeds 4-6 weeks before your last average frost. Press into soil and lightly cover. Kept at 70° F, germination is in 5-15 days.
Growing
Transplant dwarf asters into the garden 8″ apart and tall varieties 12″ apart. Keep soil evenly moist. Do not allow the soil to dry out. A light layer of mulch will keep the shallow-rooted plants from dying out. They prefer full sun. In hot climates, partial sun/shade is preferred. Avoid fertilizers high in nitrogen (the first number in the x-x-x formula) as that will produce abundance foliage with fewer flowers. The middle number should be the higher number when fertilizing your asters. Deadhead spent flowers to promote the production of my blooms on the plant throughout the growing season.
