slender soft coppery gold flower clusters

Product Description

Celosia spicata  (wheat celosia)

2-4″ clusters of coppery gold flower spikes on plants reaching 36-48″ tall.  These feathery plumes are excellent vase fillers in arrangements and have a long vase life.  Plants are heat tolerant, and the flowers attract bees.  Pelleted seeds for easier sowing.

Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before your last average frost.  Sow them about 1/8″ deep, making sure to cover them as light inhibits germination.  Kept at 65-70° F, germination is in 14-21 days.  Transplant into the garden 12-18″ apart for wheat celosia varieties (Flamingo Feather).

When plants are 6-8″ tall, pinch back to promote new growth and bushier plants.  Celosia grows best with consistent moisture.  Keep soil moist but not soggy.
