Product Description
Trachymene coerulea
These pale blue, 2 – 2 1/2″ blooms make an excellent cut flower for bouquets! Well-branching, upright habit with few leaves and stiff stems. Flowers are lightly sweet-scented. These plants can produce flowers for up to 2 months. 24-36″ tall.
Germination
Direct-sowing is recommended for these seeds because the plants dislike their roots being disturbed. After your last average frost, direct sow seeds 9-12″ apart, making sure to cover seeds as darkness aids germination. Germination is in 14-21 days with temperatures around 70° F.
Growing
When seedlings are about 6-8″ tall, you can pinch the tips off to encourage more branching, but pinching is not a necessity for blue lace flowers. They like slightly moist soil, so be sure to water them when the soil dries out. If growing for cut flowers, note that they are prone to wilt, so be sure to pick these during the coolest part of the day, when at least one flower on each spray is open.
