Ornamental Cabbage – Condor White
white with pink eyes
Out of stock
Brassica oleracea var capitata
A unique look for vase flower with straight stems. These are white with a pink center and can reach 25″ in height. Ornamental cabbages need cooler temperatures. If daytime temperatures are still more than 70°F, the unique coloring will not show up.
Packet is 25 seeds.
Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before planting outside. Use a sterile mix and barely cover seeds as light aids in germination. If kept between 65-70°F, germination is in 10-14 days. Transplant into the garden 4″ apart, when seedlings have 2-3 true leaves, several weeks BEFORE your first average fall frost. Transplanting 4″ apart promotes thin stems and lower leaf drop.
Well-drained soil is a must for ornamental cabbage. Fertilize at the time of transplanting with a well-balanced fertilizer that also has calcium. When plants reach 8-10,” remove the lower leaves to promote coloring on top of the plant. Repeat 3-4 times as needed until coloring begins. Support may be required for tall varieties.
