3″ double pastel pink blooms

Clear

Product Description

Platycodon grandiflorus

Pretty double pink blooms on sturdy well-branched plants.  Perennial in zones 4-9.  Part sun to light shade.  Plants reach 8-12″ tall and spread 6-12″.  The ‘Astra’ series blooms the first year it’s grown from seed.

When starting balloon flower seeds, use 2″ pots as seedling roots are very fragile. They do not like to be disturbed. Start indoors 4-6 weeks before your last average frost.

Barely cover seeds as light aids in seed germination. Kept around 65-75° F, germination is in 10-15 days. Carefully transplant into the ground 6-10″ apart. I personally wait until there are flower buds forming before transplanting mine into the garden.
