Product Description
Aquilegia vulgaris
Unique double, upward-facing flowers with a full and vigorous growth habit. Blooms in late spring and early summer. Full sun in milder climates. Partial sun in hotter areas. Perennial in zones 4-8. 12-14″ tall and 12-14″ spread.
Packet is 10 seeds.
Columbine seeds need cold stratification to germinate. You can sow seeds outdoors 4-6 weeks before your last average frost, or you can sprinkle seeds on a moist paper towel (not too wet) and store in a zip-lock bag in the refrigerate four weeks prior to sowing.
When sowing seeds, barely cover seeds as light aids in seed germination. Kept around 65-75° F, germination is in 20-30 days. Transplant into the garden 10-12″ apart. Note that columbine started from seed will not bloom until the 2nd year.
