Product Description
Echinacea purpurea
This coneflower is a compact variety only reaching 12-18″ in height. I grew this variety for the first time in 2019, and I love it! It is now one of my favorites. It makes a great border plant because of it’s compact size, and the dark pink flowers are abundant. This coneflower flowers the first year if seeds are started earlier enough. Perennial in zones 3-9.
Packet is 10 seeds.
Germination
Start seeds indoor 8-10 weeks before your last average frost. Sow 1/8″ deep. Kept at 70° F, germination is in 10-21 days. For maximum vegetative growth, provide 18 hours of artificial light after germination. For plants that will bloom quickly, provide 9 hours of artificial light for 2 weeks after germination and then 14+ hours per day after that.
Growing
Plant into the garden 18-24″ apart in full sun. Deadhead spent flowers to promote continued flowering. Coneflowers seldom need to be divided, and it is not recommended as their roots do not like to be disturbed.
