My ever-growing seed collection was making it difficult to find the seeds I needed without having to go through all the packets. I originally stored my collection in a small plastic airtight container by Komax.
I decided to upgrade to something that would allow me to better organize (and find) them. I debated on how I wanted to do this for quite some time. Do I alphabetize them all? Do I separate out perennials from annuals? Cold weather from summer flowers? In the end, I decided to do just flowers, vegetables, and herbs with no secondary sorting.
I used this Recollections photo storage box I purchased online from Michaels craft store. My local Michaels was out of stock or I would have purchased it in-store.
The first thing I did was separate out my vegetable & herb seeds, and then I went through and organized the flower seeds by the letters of the alphabet.
The only real complaint I have about this new box {so far} is the sticker they put on the front. Why do stores have to make it so difficult to get these things off? I spent a good 15 minutes getting this one off.
As for how to divide up how many letters go into each of the containers, that is up to you and your own personal collection. I had to play around with mine to determine the best combination for me. S got its own container because I have a lot of flowers that start with S. Do what works best for you. Check out the short video I posted {below} on YouTube for this post!
I got the label maker on Amazon, and it was fairly inexpensive. I’ll be using it to label other things as needed.

I would love to hear how you organize your seeds!
